Arsenal defender, Sol Campbell insists Arsenal have a lot to do if they want to be invicibles.
Arsenal finished 49 games in 2003/2004 season without being beaten by any team in the English Premier League and the Englishman and France centre back, Gael Clichy are only representatives and the 35 year-old says the current young Gunners still have some work to do if they want to end their 5 year trophy drought.
“Everyone has to look at himself after the Barcelona match and say ‘ this is the level you have to get to”,’ the veteran said according to Daily Mail.
“The more games like these in which you are involved, the more experience you have. But you have to be a quick leaner. You can’t think you are okay when you are not. This is the level you have to be at. You have to turn your football really seriously and forget what the crowd are saying, what the papers are saying.
“You have to say, ‘ this is the level I want to get to and surpass.’ You have to be honest with yourself and say, “ I have to work harder, I have to understand the game better” and realize that it is a big world out there and that there are a lot of good players at big clubs.
“Hopefully [the younger players] would listen [to me]. They are all learning. The Bracelona game will have taught us a hell of a lot about the level we are at just now. We’ve got to handle this and it is also about how e go on from here. You can not go away and take nothing from this game.”
Arsenal are on position three in the Premier League, three points behind Chelsea and two behind Manchester United and are travelling to White Lane this Wednesday to take on Tottenham Hotspur. And Campbell believes his team will do as much as possible to remove Chelsea and Manchester United out of title race.
“Arsenal haven’t been in this situation for a few years with the League, and this is another area you can learn from and listen to people who have been there and be aware that every time you go out, every point is precious.
“This is also another level; realizing there are five games to go and that you have to go for it. You don’t to kick yourself at the end of the season, because you just never know. I hope there is another twist in the title race. There needs to be. We’ve all got different opponents who are fighting for different things. There will be a couple of twists; hopefully in favour of us,” concluded Campbell.
Meanwhile Arsenal have all chances for the title after Manchester United were held to a goalless draw with BlackBurn Rovers on Sunday.
