Bayern through into the Champions League semifinals

Neville and RiberyBayern Munich are through into the semifinals of the Champions League despite their 3-2 down to Manchester United in the Champions League quarterfinal second leg at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Manchester United were leading 3-0 in the first half but second half two goals from Ivac Olic and Arjen Roben ruined their hopes as the visitors enjoyed their more away  goals tying 4-4 on aggregate.

Following their 2-1 defeat in the hands of the Bavarian Titans last week, Manchester United were supposed to score more goals to progress into the next stage.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich boss, Louis van Gaal said he was naturally proud with his team’s qualification and applauded his players for fighting hard and coming up with such unbelievable achievement.

Louis van Gaal told club’s official site: “Naturally, I’m proud. We were 3-0 down, so what we’ve achieved in the second half is unbelievable. But we have to be awake right from the start, just like I told my players beforehand. Fortunately, Ivica Olic scored a very good goal. We were outstanding in the second half. We’re mentally strong, we were tactically smart and we were aggressive. It’s not always easy against ten men. We played the way a great team does. Robben’s goal was just amazing.”

It was a disappointing week to Manchester United as they also lost 2-1 to Chelsea in the English Premier League and Sir Alex Ferguson expects his team to bounce back as they take on Manchester City in their next Premier League game.

"Three disappointing results in a row isn't something we're used to, but it's happened and we've had to face this many times before," Sir Alex told MUTV.

"[Bouncing back] is in the nature of our club and is part of our history. We've got five league games to go and we need to win them, starting at Blackburn on Sunday."
