Manchester United have secured a deal for Mexico starlet Javier Hernandez from Chivas de Guadalajara for undisclosed fee.
The 21 year-old has so far passed a medical and agreed his personal terms at the club and is expected to join the club on July 1st upon granted UK work permit.
“I am delighted to reach agreement with Chivas to bring such an exciting young striker, who has been in such prolific form for both his club and his country,” confirmed Sir Alex Ferguson on club’s official site.
Manchester United is expected to travel to Mexico and play a game to match official opening of the new 45, 000 capacity Chivas Stadium in Guardalajara as part of the deal and their preparations for the 2010/11 season.
“He will be a great addition to our squad and we look forward to welcoming our first game in Mexico, opening the magnificent new Chivas Stadium in July,” added Ferguson.
Hernandez who is popularly known as “Chicharito” in his homeland, has so far scored four goals in his national team’s four appearances and could be in the squad travelling to South Africa in June for the 2010 World Cup tournament.
The player will add more striking force to the Manchester United as for now they only depend on Wayne Rooney following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.
