Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says he don't understand what made Sol Campbell to think of Arsenal return.

The England defender seemed desperate to leave Arsenal in 2006 when his contract was cancelled and signed for Redknapp at Portsmouth and the manager says he is staggered to see Campbell in Arsenal shirt again.

"I could never see him going back to Arsenal in a million years. I never thought he would want to go anywhere near Arsenal again. When I took him, he wanted out and they wanted him out as well. He just went: 'No, I don't want to play there any more,' the Spurs boss said according to The Mirror.

"I wouldn't want to say what he told me but he wasn't happy. He just felt he didn't want to be there and he was desperate to get out. I never thought Arsenal would take him back, either. They were very pleased to let him go before.

"When I took him to Portsmouth he wanted out and, from what I heard, they wanted him out as well. But the amount of money he left behind was incredible - the money he was getting at Portsmouth compared to what he was getting at Arsenal, he was losing out on about £3million a year."

Arsenal will be playing Tottenham this night in English Premier League clash and Tottenham spokesman has warned supporters that CCTV will be in use tonight to avoid any abuse as  it is likely to be a highly emotional atmosphere on Sol Cambell’s return to White Lane after leaving on free transfer.

"We are aware of the issues that these high-category matches can bring, particularly with the importance surrounding the current league positions,” a Tottenham spokesman was quoted in Telegraph.

“As always, we shall be monitoring for any abusive and inappropriate behaviour, making full use of the CCTV systems and headcams that the police and club have available and dealing promptly with any unacceptable activity."
