Manchester United  manager Sir Alex ferguson has paid tribute to his team for beating Manchester City on Saturday the victory which ensured their title dreams alive.

Manchester United grabbed a score in the dying minutes through Paul Scholes header and Ferguson says it was an mazing finish and believes his side deserved a victory.

"It was an amazing finish," Ferguson told Sky Sports.

"We've three last-minute goals against them now this season but deserve it."

With Chelsea 2-1 loss in the hands of Tottenham on Saturday, United are now only one point behind the leaders and the manager believes such victory have given their supporters extra excitement.

"We had the best chances but it did not look like anyone was going to win," added Ferguson.

"The game became very open in the last 10 minutes.

"Derbies are derbies and the way we have won has given our supporters great excitement. To do it that way on City's own ground is a great result for us.

"We wanted to keep a clean-sheet because we know if we get back to zero against it gives us a chance. One-nil wins have played a big part in our title and 1-0 today [Saturday] shows that's true."

The United boss also praised Paul scholes for the goal saying no one is better than him especially into the box.

"No-one is better than him [Paul Scholes] at ghosting into the box," added Ferguson.

"He was man of the match today, he was wonderful, he's such a skilful player."
