We Can All Be Very Proud Of Ourselves - Says Caldwell
By Marshall Dyton | Mar 09, 2010

Cardwee and Dirk KuytWigan defender, Gary Caldwell has expressed his happiness after his team beat Liverpool 1-0 on Monday in Premier League clash but urged his teammates to re-produce that performance against Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

"It was a massive result and we can all be very proud of the way we performed and the work we put into the game," Caldwell told club’s official site.

"But it's still just three points and there's a long way still to go. We have to remember what we did well tonight and continue that on Saturday against Bolton.

"We have to put a run together and have that attitude in every single game, hopefully now we can kick on from this and find some form.

"The game's gone now, it's in the past. It's the next game that matters and we'll use this week to recover and prepare ourselves for Bolton this Saturday."

Caldwell also praised Hugo Rodellaga for that only goal which boosted their confidence and the defender hopes that fighting spirit will be displayed again this weekend.

"It was a great goal at the right time, and a fantastic ball in from Boycey. Hugo's been knocking on the door for the past two weeks, getting closer each time and it was great to see him on the score-sheet again he really deserved it.

"I thought the strikers and midfielders absolutely worked their socks off and although they tired late on we defended as a group when we had to.

"Liverpool are a great side, full of world-class players who aren't going to throw the towel in. They gave it their all and we did well to see the game out.

"When we're defending we have to try and hit teams on the break with the pace that we have in the team.

"There were two or three occasions where we could have finished them off toward the end but thankfully Hugo's goal was enough to get the win.

Cardwell further said he was happy with the new pitch although other players were worrying about it and said he expects an improvement after the turf will knit together.

He said: "The pitch was much better and I think that given a bit more time and allowing for the turf to knit together it'll improve even more. But you could definitely see a better game of football and more of a spectacle for the fans.

"We want to play that way and hopefully the fans enjoyed it."
